Hearthstone’s Executive Director George Schroeder will initiate the museum’s celebration of Black History Month with a new telling of the story of Lewis Latimer, a Black inventor whose family fought enslavement, becoming a nationally known cause célèbre ten years before Dred Scott, and who became a giant of American invention working alongside Alexander Graham Bell, Hiram Maxim, and Thomas Edison. The hour long presentation will feature compelling visuals to tell the story of an amazing man and his accomplishments.
Tickets for this event, which will be held in the museum’s beautiful and historic Parlor, are $20 and are strictly limited. Ticketing will be available on-line shortly.
