legacy Planning
Many of us choose to leave a gift to charity in our wills to support the causes that are already important to us. There are advantages to making gifts in this way. These can include some important financial benefits. If you are interested in helping to secure the future of Hearthstone through a planned charitable gift, please contact us and we will be glad to discuss your wishes.
Of course, always consult with your attorney or financial advisor concerning the details and tax consequences of these options but some of them may include:
A Legacy in Your Will
Gifts through your will can help reduce your estate taxes while helping to support Hearthstone and its continuing mission to benefit our community.
Hearthstone as a Beneficiary
An oft-used approach is to arrange for Hearthstone to benefit from several types of financial products including retirement plans, life insurance policies, and charitable remainder trusts.
Hearthstone’s Endowment - “The Greatest Gift We Will Never Spend”
Please consider designating a gift to Hearthstone’s Endowment. The Endowment is designed to create principal to produce income from its earnings. While the earnings are essential to Hearthstone’s operations, the principal is not touched. Your gift to the Endowment literally becomes “The Greatest Gift We Will Never Spend.”

The Frederika Crane Society
When you inform us of your planned gift intentions, you instantly become a member of our Frederika Crane Society. The society is named in honor of the Victorian artist who was a mentor to Kitty Rogers. Ms. Crane was famed not only for her marvelous talent (a detail from her “Evangeline” tiles which graces the mantle in Hearthstone’s Parlor is pictured above) but also for being a leader and independent thinker. Because members of the Crane Society are some of our most significant champions, they are invited to an exclusive event every year in recognition of their commitment to Hearthstone.
