Hearthstone Historic House Museum offers special tours and activities to help all Scout troops earn badges and experience adventures.

Additionally, Hearthstone welcomes Eagle Scout projects.


NEW IN 2024

Current Junior or Cadette Girl Scouts and those in Scouts BSA are welcome to join our Spark Your Imagination Summer Camp campers this summer to earn badges through our regular curriculum. For more information visit our Camp page.

This curriculum will allow Junior Girl Scouts to earn the Business Jumpstart badge, Create & Innovate badge, and Craft & Tinker badge. Cadette Girl Scouts can earn the Business Creator badge. Scouts BSA members can earn the Inventing Merit Badge. Please contact information@hearthstonemuseum.org. for more information.


Below are our current offerings, which are highly flexible depending on your preferences and/or outcome goals. Please direct troop and project requests to information@hearthstonemuseum.org.

Costs are typically $8 per student with 15 students max. Costs may vary with program content. Two adults are free with every troop. Additional adults are $8 each.

GIRL SCOUTS

Daisies (grades K-1)

  • Toy Business Designer badge (Entrepreneurship): Come up with an idea for a toy and design it - just like an entrepreneur would!

  • Create and Innovate badge (Maker/Life Skills): Find out how makers use their imaginations to build things and solve problems for people, animals, and the planet!

  • Craft and Tinker badge (Maker/Life Skills): When a maker unlocks their imagination, they can create anything out of everything!

  • Think Like an Engineer journey (Engineering): Find out how engineers solve problems with the Design Thinking Process!

Brownies (grades 2-3)

  • Home Scientist badge (Science and Tech/STEM): Find out where science has been hiding at Hearthstone!

  • Budding Entrepreneur badge (Entrepreneurship): Come up with an idea that makes life better - just like entrepreneurs do!

  • Create and Innovate badge (Maker/Life Skills): Find out how makers use their imaginations to build things and solve problems for people, animals, and the planet!

  • Craft and Tinker badge (Maker/Life Skills): When a maker unlocks their imagination, they can create anything out of everything!

  • Think Like an Engineer journey (Engineering): Find out how engineers solve problems with the Design Thinking Process!

Juniors (grades 4-5)

  • Playing the Past badge (Creative Play/Life Skills): Dress like a Victorian character using Hearthstone costumes and join your host for a tour of the house. You’ll leave with new game ideas and recipes!

  • Business Jumpstart badge (Entrepreneurship): Think like an entrepreneur—solve a problem!

Cub SCOUTS

Lions (grade K)

  • Gizmos and Gadgets elective: Visit Hearthstone to see the progression of gadgets and gizmos over time!

Tigers (grade 1)

  • Curiosity, Intrigue, and Magical Mysteries elective: Explore with science investigations and/or genius kits!

Wolves (grade 2)

  • Air of the Wolf elective: Try out some experiments using air!

Bears (grade 3)

  • Paws for Action (Duty to Country) required adventure: Visit Hearthstone, the very first house in the world to have lightbulbs lit by hydroelectricity using a Central Edison System and learn about our history!

Webelos/Arrow of Light (grades 4-5):

  • Adventures in Science elective: Learn about series and parallel circuits and lightbulbs!

Scouts BSA (grades 6-12)

  • Inventing merit badge: Learn about the invention process from The Henry Ford Museum’s Invention Convention curriculum and intellectual property from the USPTO. Create your own invention, learn about inventors at Hearthstone, and even compete in the Northeastern Wisconsin Invention Convention!

  • Collections merit badge: Visit Hearthstone to learn about how we care for our collections, collect, and keep track of our museum objects. Apply this to your own collection!

  • Pulp and Paper merit badge: Learn about the history of papermaking and paper mill barons in the context of Henry Rogers, Kimberly and Clark, and the Fox Valley.
