Join us for a 60- to 75-minute guided tour through Hearthstone followed by a chance to explore our educational exhibits.
All individual, family, and small group tours are guided by trained docents who relate the story of the residence and its unique place in terms of technology and history, its architecture and décor, and of the family who built Hearthstone. These stories vividly illustrate Victorian life, the Gilded Age, and the rise and fall of family fortunes as well as Hearthstone's place in the world as the first residence to be electrified using a central hydroelectric power station.
Each of the tours include special and educational exhibits in the Lower Level dedicated to Edison, his inventive legacy, electricity, and the history of hydroelectricity at Hearthstone. These exhibits can be viewed prior to or after the guided tour.
Tickets may be purchased at the door. Tickets may also be purchased in advance by clicking the Purchase Tickets button below. Tickets purchased in advance may be used for any regular tour on any day that the museum is open.
Please note that tours are offered at 10:30 am, 12:00 pm, 1:30 pm, or 3:00 pm Thursday-Saturday, and at 1:30 pm or 3:00 pm on Sunday.
