Using one of the two original dynamos purchased by Henry Rogers, the original Vulcan Street Power Plant began producing hydroelectricity only four weeks after Hearthstone was lit in September of 1882. Edison experts and authors Robin and Joan Rolfs share their expertise on this important event which led to Appleton having more electrified buildings than any other city in the world for over a decade. The Rolfs will be joined by experts from the Appleton Historical Society who will talk about the 1932 replica which still stands and is open to the public.
