Rogers Residence, now known as Hearthstone, c. 1892

This photo clearly illustrates how utterly unchanged the Rogers residence remains to this day. While the carriage way which wound around the house is gone, the home has been pristinely preserved. Hearthstone remains one of the most sumptuous examples of brick-built, Queen Anne Style architecture in the state of Wisconsin.

Ephraim Goff Residence c. 1892

In this photo of the Goff residence, the observatory that rose above the front door on the original Italianate design is clearly seen. Its detailing, and especially the ornate balustrade, is beautifully pictured. The lost front portico and narrow full length porch are also depicted. While the bracketing under the eaves survives, notice that the west wing’s roof line has been changed from its original hip to its current gable design.

 John Whorton Residence c. 1892

This photo of the John Whorton home shows how beautifully the original design survives to this day. The only significant change to the front exterior is the entryway porch, which has been extended to the cover the full front of the facade.

Edward West Residence c. 1892

The original grandeur and Stick Style architecture of the West home is evidenced in this photo. It clearly shows the king’s post gable end design, decorative carvings, and ornate pediments above each window. The roof of the original front entry way can also be seen to the right of the front gable. Interestingly, the windows are much wider set than they are today.
